Maib publishes its 2023 Annual Report

 

Today maib has published its Annual Report for 2023. Both the Romanian and the English language versions of the report are available. It provides comprehensive information about the Bank, the environment it operates in, its strategy, its business, progress and milestones achieved in 2023, financial performance, performance of its business units, plans and outlook for 2024 and corporate governance.

In line with maib’s commitment to paperless office (we endeavor to reduce paper use as much as possible) only the electronic versions of the report are available.

Maib - 2023 key operating and financial milestones:

• The Bank recorded a net profit of MDL 1,221 million (+7.5% YoY), equivalent to EUR 62.2 million achieving a ROE of 16.9% while maintaining a robust capitalization with a Capital Adequacy Ratio of 24.08%;
• Moldova has continued taking steps towards EU integration, as accession negotiations were opened by the European Council in December of 2023;
• Maib’s digital transformation milestones in 2023 included:
  • The launch of full digital onboarding, allowing any Moldovan citizen to open a bank account without ever visiting a branch;
  • A record 66% and 56% of loans deposits respectively, granted online;
  • Launched an internet/mobile banking solution for SME clients;
• Maib park, the Bank’s brand new headquarters, opened in the middle of the city;
• The Bank paid out dividends at MDL 1.91 per share;
• Maib’s CEO, Giorgi Shagidze, has extended his mandate until at least December 31, 2025;
• Maib started a full-scale sustainability programme:
  • The Bank’s inaugural sustainability report was published;
  • Maib’s Supervisory Board approved the Bank’s sustainability strategy and roadmap, which set out its sustainability goals and the path towards them;
  • Maib received a sustainability rating, the first bank in the country to do so.
