Moldova International Exchange receives regulator’s approval
The National Commission for Financial Markets of Moldova (CNPF) has granted Moldova International Exchange (BIMx) a market operator license, together with the authorizations to administer and operate both a regulated market and a multilateral trading facility (MTF). The three authorization instruments – the market operator license, the regulated market authorization, and the MTF authorization – have been issued for an unlimited term. CNPF also approved the Rules of the Regulated Market and the Rules of the Multilateral Trading Facility to be administered by the Exchange, completing the regulatory framework required to organize and conduct trading. Maib, a founding shareholder of the Exchange since launch, welcomes this milestone as the platform moves from formation to operational readiness.
Bucharest Stock Exchange provides modern exchange technology and expertise
The Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), serves as the anchor investor and contributes its modern trading technology regulatory experience and business development expertise. BVB is a premier regional stock exchange, and one of the best performing ones this with BET index up 34% year-to-date. In 2023 BVB attracted the largest IPO in Europe as Hidroelectrica raised EUR 1.9 billion. BVB has over 260,000 investor accounts and enables international investors to invest in Romanian and international securities.
Alongside BVB shareholders of BIMx include Moldova Public Property Agency (APP), insurers Donaris and Grawe Carat, banks maib, MICB and OTP, Moldovan and international companies – Moldcell, Premier Energy and MK Kredit. Next steps for BIMx are operational launch and first listings.
Maib’s role in building Moldova's capital markets
Maib has been the only issuer in Moldova's corporate bond market placing MDL 1.1 billion of bonds in 2025. In February 2026, CNPF approved maib's fourth public bond offering programme, authorizing up to MDL 2 billion across ten tranches of MDL 200 million each. In addition, maib recently intermediated Ceadir Lunga municipal bond issuance of MDL 8 million. Maib shares are the most widely traded instrument in Moldova making up nearly 77% of all volume on the market in 2025, excluding corporate transactions.
